This fast-growing, super-easy Graptoveria is, I have to say it, succu-licious! The many plump blue-green leaves that form its tight rosette are tinged with true pink edges and undersides, giving it the overall color of, well, yes, an opal. Its 6” high by 8” wide size and sweetly harmonious coloration makes it perfect to share pots with other succulents such as burgundy-colored Sedum voodoo or coppery Sedum nussbaumerianum. In Spring small yellow flowers with orange centers sprout on short stems, attracting both bees and butterflies. Although it doesn’t set pups faithfully, any dropped leaf, if left in the pot or ground will likely sprout a new rosette so don’t be too zealous in cleaning out dead leaves! Like most succulents it wants excellent drainage, so gritty porous soil is best. Give it an initial light dose of compost then let it grow on with low water, letting the soil dry out between waterings. While succulents can take part shade, for best coloration and form, grow in full sun.
