Common names. Dracaena trifasciata is commonly called “mother-in-law’s tongue”, “Saint George’s sword” or “snake plant”, because of the shape and sharp margins of its leaves. It is also known as the “viper’s bowstring hemp”, because it is one of the sources for plant fibers used to make bowstrings.

The root ball needs to stay a bit damp and in the winter a bit dryer. Staying too damp for a long time isn’t advisable; the plant would rather be too dry. Don’t water the leaf rosette. Because of its succulent leaves, the Mother-in-law’s tongue can cope well with dry air.

A flowerpot, flower pot, planter, planterette, or alternatively plant pot is a container in which flowers and other plants are cultivated and displayed. Historically, and still to a significant extent today, they are made from plain terracotta with no ceramic glaze, with a round shape, tapering inwards.
